Star European Championship
Last week USA 8077 finished up with Star Class European Championships in Kiel with mixed results. The event itself was excellent, great off the water organization, the best competitors in the class from all around the world and a very efficient race committee. The schedule was for 8 races over 5 days. The sailing was amazing with winds ranging from 8 knots to 25 knots. The shifts were fairly unpredictable with some days featuring short oscillating wind shifts and other presenting more stable geographic shifts. We seemed to always be flirting with the top teams on the first beat, this was very encouraging. The regatta also showed a few weaknesses mainly keeping the boat fast downwind in traffic, coming out of the leeward mark fast with a good lane and playing the 2nd beat better are all areas for improvement moving forward. Next up we will be sailing the District Championships and North American Championships in NY.
