Bacardi Cup and Winter Star Sailing
This winter was my first full effort in the Star class. Starting with the North Americans in September, to sailing in the 25 knots in Annapolis in October, to light winds in Key Biscayne for the OCR, Levin and Commadors Cup. We just finished one of the longest standing Star Class events, the Bacardi Cup. The Bacardi Cup is a six day event with one race per day. The Class is full of great talent we started the regatta in good form and in 16th place after four races. During the last two days nothing much went our way and we finished a dissapionting 28th overall. In less then two weeks we sail in the western hemispheres and then the boat will be sent to europe for the Worlds and European championships. This winter has been a success not so much in results but a steady improvement from event to event. The boat is faster then it was during the north americans, we are starting well more consistantly and we are sailing the course cleanly (more often then not). So am happy with progress so far. The western hemispheres should be fun, we will have some new sails and a new mast to set up before the boat goes to europe so I am looking forward to more sailing in this great class.
